Kim Virant’s Rivers Rise could be described as alt-country, but that alone would short-sell the rootsy rock n’ roll aura of the track. Highlighted by her trademark throaty contra-alto vocal delivery, once again supported by her long time band: Chris Friel, Gary Westlake, Jeff Rouse and Max Rose. All of whom hold down the instrumental core for the album. Kathy Moore also took time away from here busy calendar to showcase her amazing piano talents on the song.
